Bill Adams, NYS Director

Bill is a 7th degree black belt in Isshin-ryu karate, respected for his knowledge in Okinawan and Japanese arts, and skilled in Tai Chi Chuan and other internal arts, as well. Bill won over 900 awards in regional, national and international competitions, including World Champion in sparring in his major style, Isshin-ryu, and a member of the US National Tai Chi Team, competing in China. He has successfully competed, winning in N. America, Europe, and the Orient.

OOPS! I did it again.

Got bored arbitrating, feeling like the Maytag repairman at Papo & Lynn's GRMA. Jumped into black belt over 35 and took weapons and forms. Then Dwayne McKinney spanked me in sparring (although I scored first, and gave him the toughest time of anybody as he went on to his first).

Now the real work! Getting prepared for our tournament!

Congrats to Mikki Bort! Great tourney. Well run, with great competition. People loved the swords. The season is picking up steam, and the competition is getting good! Next up is Papo Villarrubia's GRMA. See you all there!

Cinco de Mayo and Gaffar Adam's tourney complete. I jumped into competition there for the first time in 5 years, spur of the moment. I just hated sitting on the sidelines watching others. Took a first in Forms, 2nd in Weapons, 3rd in Fighting and Kata Grand Champ. Can't wait til I start to train. I could get good!

I enjoyed the camaraderie, and finding out what I could pull out of myself. What a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Congrats to Gaff on having a fun, well organized event.

Congratulations to Master Barton on a successful King Cobra Open. It was well attended, fielded some great competitors, and was well organized and judged. The coverage by local media was amazing, as was the amount of spectators. Everything went smoothly and ended early, leaving no rush to the banquet.

I am very excited about being asked to be the NYS Director for the PKC Region 4 for the coming year. I look forward to working closely with the talented team John Barton has assembled, and even more so the talented promoters in New York, like Papo Villerubbia, Gaffar Adam, and Dwayne McKinney,

Master Bill Adams hosted his first tournament in twelve years in his spacious and magnificent Dojo.  With almost 150 competitors the tournament ran like a fine-toothed machine and problem free.  The PKC turnout provided excellent competion for all with exciting Martial Arts skills displayed for all that attended.  This event was split into a morning tournament for the children and an afternoon tournament for the adults.  The tournament ended early and everyone enjoyed the beautiful awards presented.  Many PKC members acquired last minute points before the National season ended securing their perspective National titles. 
 
Coming next for PKC Region IV is Arnold Johnson’s American Shotokan Karate and Kung Fu Open Saturday August 2, 2008 at the Lew Davies Center on Park Ave in Meadville, PA 16335.  For information call 814 337 3287.  This is Arnold’s first tournament in several years and had hosted his events prior at Conneaut Lake Park.  It was great and the competitors would compete hard at the tournament and then have a blast at the Park.  Unfortunately, the park is closed and no hope for a future reopening.  Hope to see you there and gear up for a new National season.
 
The PKC International tournament and awards banquet scheduled for the weekend of Aug. 29, 30 & 31, 2008.  This will be held at the Marriott Hotel and Convention Center East 7202 East 21st Street Indianapolis, IN.  The rooms a going fast so don’t wait to book your room, call 317 352 1231.  You must be present at the banquet to receive your award.  Do not delay call today.

The competition was excellent at Papo and Lynn Villarrubia’s 11th Annual Greater Rochester International Martial Arts Championship.  Competitors from Canada, NY, Pennsylvania and Ohio met on the battlefield to vie for double points as the PKC National season comes to an end.  continued

Here I am in Los Angeles, California enjoying an awesome vacation.  There is so much to see and do that I’ll look forward to coming back to LA again.

Spring is finally here and was right on track in the middle of the competition season. Although we did not have any PKC4 rated events in March, were still moving forward with the development of our region series and web site.
